ABBF. All Business, and a Boatload of Fun. EDscapade’s Jonathan Mach believes in the necessity of both. As a central cog to the high school education program, Jonathan preaches the importance of hardwork as the key to success. That same determination, in tandem with plenty of preparation has propelled him to successfully open up his very first escape room, a passion project for years. Inspired by legendary basketball coach John Wooden’s mantra “If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?”, Jonathan ensures to invigorate those around him with this mentality - from his students as an educator, to former players as a badminton coach, and surely within the close knit EDscapade community. Jonathan’s love for escape rooms truly blossomed after experiencing The Basement: A Live Escape Room Experience. Inside escape games, Jonathan's greatest ability revolves around his understanding of the larger picture as a whole, able to connect dots that the average human might have never realized were even there. Having a first hand account as to the heart-stopping experiences The Basement could offer it’s players, this ability came in handy in a major way, sketching the outline of a grand portrait. This sketch would soon culminate in the dream of us coming together to form our very own escape room! Since that fateful day, Jonathan has played over a hundred different escape games, and that dream has finally been achieved with EDS! “Why EDscapade?”, you might ask. Three words: “For the Dubs!” Along with escape rooms, Jonathan’s passion for music pervades his daily life; some of his favourite hobbies include playing the Ocarina, asian flute, and piano. In addition, Jonathan aspires to one day master any one jump in figure skating, direct his own movie, and open his very own cafe! With his drive to continuously learn new skills such as ASL, I wouldn’t bet against him to achieve anything that he sets his mind towards! As all these incredible things continue mounting on his plate, he’s come to appreciate the value of every little bit of solitude & peace, keeping him recharged and ready to take on anything life has to throw at him!
